An Ancient House
Former kitchen earth floor
The poorly-constructed concrete floor has largely been removed, though a section can still be seen below the WC pan. Some previous disturbance of the floor had taken place in at least two areas - one to the right probably in Victorian times for the laying of the 9"drain that runs through the house, and another slightly to the left of centre for the brick culvert, undoubtably much earlier, and filled with a fine tilth. Sections of the culvert have been left in place for others to find in the future!
